None of them had gotten a pedicure before, so it was a treat for them. Afterwards we stopped by Little Caesar's for pizza and breadsticks and headed to Jennifers house to settle in for the night. The night went well.......all the girls got along really well and seemed happy to be together and fellowshipping with one another. They played games and watched a couple of DVD movies. Then.............. someone starting beating on the door and scratching on the window! All the girls were scared and screaming. Jennifer and I told them to calm down that it would be ok. Then from the kitchen appeared Johnathan with a loud roar! He came in the back door. The girls all laughed and took a sigh of relief! lol

It was about 4:15 am before all the girls finally fell asleep. Needless to say I was exhausted the next day, but had fun too!

Dinner Blessing

One of our oldest and dearest friends gave Mike and I a gift card to any of the Darden Restaurants, which includes Red Lobster, Olive Garden. (Yum O my fave), Longhorn Steakhouse, and Bahama Breeze (I know I've never heard of it either).

So Mike and I decided to go Thursday night and kinda make it a date night just for us. We dropped the girls off at Granny's house and headed to Olive Garden in Spartanburg. We had a great time together and hope to be able to do it more often. We didn't use all the money on the gift card, so maybe we will get another date night out of this wonderful gift. Thanks so much for the gift......you know who you are. Hehe!!!!!

During the last year, the Lord has been working on me and showing me that I needed to allow my husband to be my best friend and to tell him everything I am feeling and thinking. With the Lord's help I have been doing this a lot in the past six months or so and am really glad I allowed the Lord to work in me. As a result, we have grown closer together and Mike is even coming to Church with me now....and on a pretty regular basis. Hallelujah for that! Many of you know that Mike is not saved and doesn't profess to be. He is a very honest and straight forward person. The first step is salvation is to know you are lost and he does!! He is a good man and a good father to our girls. He just needs salvation, but I believe in my heart and have hope that the Lord is going to save him, but not in my time...in God's time. The Lord also helped me to realize that he isn't saved and I can't make him do the things I think he should be doing. Since I have backed off and allowed him to make more his own choices and not badgered him about various things, we have really grown a lot closer. I also have tried to be a submissive wife to him even though he isn't saved.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. The Bible also says in Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord..........and Mike is my husband and I will submit to his authority in our home.

I won't however do anything that is against the word of God and I don't think he would ask me to anyway. I was a little unsure about the issue of submission because Mike isn't saved, but a good friend helped give me some Godly advise and I want to say Thank You to her....she knows who she is.

Although women were not made to be the spiritual leader in the home, when your husband isn't saved you must be that leader in your home. I just want to be the Godly wife and example that the Lord would have me to be to my husband.

Well I said all that to say this.....spend alone time with your spouse as it is very important for your relationship. Just like you spend alone time with God in his word and when you do that you grow closer to him. We should do the same with our spouses. Invest your time in the Lord first then invest time in your spouses.

Mike and I have been married for 18 years and I looking forward to many more.

Have a blessed weekend!!! See ya'll Sunday.

Kimberly

I Finally Did It

For the first time since Taylor and Cassie created this blog for me....I actually changed the background by myself and figured out how to change some things on my blog as well. When we arrived at the office and were placed in a room, they then took her to X-ray and took two different views of her arm. A few minutes later the nurse came back into the room with the X-rays. Wow they sure can do that fast now!!

We waited for a few more minutes and then the doctor came in and talked to Madison about her progress for a few minutes. Then he looked at the X-rays and told us everything was healing as it should and to come back in 3 weeks. At that time he will cut her cast off and red0 the X-rays and if all looks good, she will be cast free. Yipee! Thank you Lord for answered prayers!

Thanks to everyone who prayed for her recovery!

Here are a couple of pics! Do you know why?

The Gospel of John tells us in Chapter 20 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. 4So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. 5And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. 6Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

It tells us that the napkin that was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin . Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!' Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side. Is that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'. But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because.............. The folded napkin meant, I'M COMING BACK!!! Praise the Lord he is coming back!! Amen!

Just A Little Won't Hurt....or Will It?

Just a story that I thought was worth sharing.......enjoy! Author Unknown

Some years ago, I walked into my office after a Sunday morning service to find a sandwich bag on my desk containing three chocolate brownies. Some thoughtful and anonymous person who knew my love for chocolate had placed them there, along with a piece of paper that had a short story written on it I immediately sat down and began eating the first brownie as I read the following story:

Two teenagers asked their father if they could go the theater to watch a movie that all their friends had seen. After reading some reviews about the movie on the Internet, he denied their request."Aw dad, why not?" they complained. "It's rated PG-13, and we're both older than thirteen!"
Dad replied: "Because that movie contains nudity and portrays immorality as being normal and acceptable behavior."But dad, those are just very small parts of the movie! That's what our friends who've seen it have told us. The movie is two hours long and those scenes are just a few minutes of the total film! It's based on a true story and good triumphs over evil, and there are other redeeming themes like courage and self-sacrifice. Even the movie review websites say that!"

"My answer is 'no,' and that is my final answer. You are welcome to stay home tonight, invite some of your friends over, and watch one of the good videos we have in our home collection. But you will not go and watch that film. End of discussion.

"The two teenagers walked dejectedly into the family room and slumped down on the couch. As they sulked, they were surprised to hear the sounds of their father preparing something in the kitchen. They soon recognized the wonderful aroma of brownies baking in the oven, and one of the teenagers said to the other, "Dad must be feeling guilty, and now he's going to try to make it up to us with some fresh brownies. Maybe we can soften him with lots of praise when he brings them out to us and persuade him to let us go to that movie after all.

"About that time I began eating the second brownie from the sandwich bag and wondered if there was some connection to the brownies I was eating and the brownies in the story. I kept reading...

The teens were not disappointed. Soon their father appeared with a plate of warm brownies which he offered to his kids. They each took one. Then their father said, "Before you eat, I want to tell you something: I love you both so much. "The teenagers smiled at each other with knowing glances. Dad was softening."That is why I've made these brownies with the very best ingredients. I've made them from scratch. Most of the ingredients are even organic. The best organic flour. The best free-range eggs. The best organic sugar. Premium vanilla and chocolate."The brownies looked mouth-watering, and the teens began to become a little impatient with their dad's long speech.

"But I want to be perfectly honest with you. There is one ingredient I added that is not usually found in brownies. I got that ingredient from our own back yard. But you needn't worry, because I only added the tiniest bit of that ingredient to your brownies. The amount of the portion is practically insignificant. So go ahead, take a bite and let me know what you think.""Dad, would you mind telling us what that mystery ingredient is before we eat?""Why? The portion I added was so small, just a teaspoonful. You won't even taste it.""Come on, dad; just tell us what that ingredient is.""Don't worry! It is organic, just like the other ingredients.""Dad!""Well, OK, if you insist. That secret ingredient is organic...dog poop.

"I immediately stopped chewing that second brownie and I spit it out into the waste basket by my desk. I continued reading, now fearful of the paragraphs that still remained.

Both teens instantly dropped their brownies back on the plate and began inspecting their fingers with horror."DAD! Why did you do that? You've tortured us by making us smell those brownies cooking for the last half hour, and now you tell us that you added dog poop! We can't eat these brownies!""Why not? The amount of dog poop is very small compared to the rest of the ingredients. It won't hurt you. It's been cooked right along with the other ingredients. You won't even taste it. It has the same consistency as the brownies. Go ahead and eat!""No, Dad...NEVER!""And that is the same reason I won't allow you to go watch that movie. You won't tolerate a little dog poop in your brownies, so why should you tolerate a little immorality in your movies?

We pray that God will not lead us unto temptation, so how can we in good conscience entertain ourselves with something that will imprint a sinful image in our minds that will lead us into temptation long after we first see it? I discarded what remained of the second brownie as well as the entire untouched third brownie. What had been irresistible a minute go had become detestable. And only because of the very slim chance that what Iwas eating was slightly polluted. (Surely it wasn't...but I couldn't convince myself.)What a good lesson about purity! Why do we tolerate any sin?

On the day of the Passover, the Israelites were commanded to remove every bit of leaven from their homes. Sin is like leaven - a little bit leavens the whole lump (1Corinthians 5:6, 7), faith and sin, don't mix.

"As we have opportunity, let us do good to all men,.."Galatians 6:10
AMEN!

Food for thought!!!
Kimberly

The First Broke Bone!

My sweet little Madison fell on Friday and broke her arm. We were skating and she just fell and tried to catch herself and broke her arm. And of course, we have expected this for sometime now. Those of you who know her, know that she is a rambunctious child anyway. But thankfully it was only broke in one spot. We took her to the doctor on Monday and he put an aqua colored cast on her arm that she has to wear for 4 weeks. Please pray that it heals properly. The doctor called it a radial buckle brake.

Praise the Lord it wasn't anymore serious than it was!! She set her purse in the front of the buggy while she was shopping and when she got the front to pay her purse was gone.

Her daughter quickly looked around the store and found it in the front of a buggy with identical items that her mother had in her buggy. I know scarey. The theives had apparently been watching her and picked up the same items she had. Then picked a time when she wasn't looking to grab her purse and place it in their buggy that looked like hers.

Needless to say they had stolen her wallet with all the usual contents, money, credit cards, ss cards, checkbook, etc. They went on a shopping rampage as it was a holiday weekend. The mother filed a police report and then proceeded to go to all the usual places she shops and discovered that she had just missed the theives. She asked the salesperson to see the video camera and then proceeded to call the police. The police viewed the video and left a plain clothed officer staked out at the store. Within a few hours the thieves returned to try again and were caught in the act. It was a 38 year old women and her boyfriend as well as her two sons. They apparently teamed up and worked together.

So just be aware of who is around you and what they are doing while you are out shopping. Especially if you are shopping alone. Just thought it might be helpful to some of ya'll and maybe keep this from happening to you.

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Kimberly

Let It Snow!!!!

Hey there! They performed in the High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. The concert consisted of several different songs like Jingle Bells, Ode to Joy and several others. They did really well.

For those of you who don't know, Madison plays the saxophone. She started about a year ago and has been improving everyday. The band director meets with them every morning before school at 7:30 and they practice for 30 minutes. She really enjoys playing.

I don't have any pictures....sorry I am a bad mom and blogger. lol

I will try to post again soon!

Merry Christmas to All!

Kimberly

Thanksgiving Day Preparation!

I will begin making preparations for our Thanksgiving dinner today. I don't have to make a Turkey this year, my mom and Mike's sister are cooking the turkeys...woohoo! But I will prepare two pumpkin pies, chocolate chip cookies, Yams, Sweet Potato Casserole, two pots of Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, two dozen Angel Eggs, two broccoli casseroles, rolls, and two gallons of tea.

We will go to my Mom's in the morning and help her finish preparing lunch. Then we will go to Mike's sisters house for dinner.

WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR! I am most thankful this year for my family. I am thankful that the Lord has kept us a whole family for 18 years now. To God be the glory for that. I am also thankful that my husband now has a job that he works 1st shift during the week and is off every weekend.

I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving day tomorrow!!

Kimberly

Veteran's Day!

I would like to take this opportunity to THANK all the veterans who have served and are serving for their country. On Sunday, a lady at my church testified and said that her brother is in the military and he said of the men and women returning from war and I quote "Their bodies may be broken but their spirits are NOT!!" I wish the liberal media would show that on TV! Our men and women are happy to serve their country!! The two teams decide on names and verses and then decorate their side of the fellowship building to match their name. One team was the Chi Alpha UFC "Ultimate Fighters for Christ" and the other team was the Alpha Teta Speed "Saved People Encouraging Everlasting Devotion". They are judged that night on their decorations and team spirit. The team sponsors for the UFC are Bruce & Kristi and the team sponsors for Speed are Chris & Dana. Taylor is on the UFC's team and I think they won! Go UFC!! They will be headed to Upper State Competition this Saturday in Clinton, SC.

They have all worked very hard and we are hoping that they finish good at Upper State so they can go on to State. The ceremony was performed by a notary public. The only people present were his mother and step-dad and some of their friends. It was a sweet private ceremony! The pictures that were taken of our wedding day didn't turn out! They were exposed to the light and ruined, but the memory is forever in our minds! We enjoyed visiting the site where we were joined together in holy matrimony. We walked around for awhile and just talked about the memories of that day. I am thankful the Lord has blessed our marriage for 18 years and I pray he continues to bless it. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Have a blessed week!

Kimberly

Off to the Beach!!!

I will be taking a bloggy break the rest of this week and weekend. And Job 42:10
And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Both services were really great, but Tuesday really spoke to my heart. It was about building hedges. The title was "Three ingredients that the devil encountered when he went to Job's house".

1. He encountered a hedge that he could not penetrate.
a. A personal hedge
b. A property hedge
c. A powerful hedge

2. He encountered a heart he could not provoke.

3. He encountered a harvest he could not prevent.

I have always tried to pray a hedge of protection around our home, around my children and also around my husband. But at times I get so busy with everyday life that I fail to do that and now I have a renewed since of urgency to make certain that I pray hedges around my home and family DAILY.

I didn't get any pics.......I am still trying to learn to remember to take my camera everywhere. The Lord really moved in both services, but especially in our Evening service. It was what I call a "Holy Ghost Service" with no formal preaching.....but none was necessary as it was truly a moving of the spirit of God!!! There were many people testifying as to when they got saved and what the Lord has done for them. It was wonderful. We had lots of wonderful singing and praising the Lord!!

I was saved when I was 11 years old. I don't know the exact date, but I know where I was and who helped lead me to the Lord. I felt like if I didn't get saved right then I was going to die and go to hell right at that moment. I have to say that I haven't always lived for the Lord like I should have, but he has never left me nor forsook me. During my teenage years I was very distant from the Lord and was determined to do things MY way. Believe me when I say, there have been consequences for not going God's way in my life. But, GOD is GOOD, ALL THE TIME. The best place you can ever be in smack dab in the middle of God's will for your life. In 1 John 1:9 the bible says "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". AMEN!

Tonight we start our revival services with Dr. Larry Brown from North Augusta. I am looking forward to hearing what the Lord has in store for us during the next two days. Well after months of applying and much prayer on my part as well as my girls and by many of our friends......he got the JOB!! WOOHOO! He is officially a mechanic at Michelin now. I know you're asking what is the big deal, but for us it means alot. You see at his current position he is on the swing shift....for those of you who don't know what that is, it means he is always on different shifts throughout the month. It is very hard to plan activities and things around that schedule, but don't get me wrong....I am thankful for his job. But I am looking forward to him getting to train for his new position on STRAIGHT first shift. He could do that for up to two years. Then who knows what shift he will be on, but it is in the Lord's hands. So, please continue to lift this situation up in prayer and continue to pray for his soul. Praise the Lord for answered prayers!

Hope all you bloggers out there have a wonderful week!!

Kimberly

Recipe

I recently tried this recipe and wanted to share it with my fellow bloggers!! It is much needed in our area as we are down some 10-15 inches for the year. Last night, sometime after 10:00 it must have really put down some rain cause when I got up this morning our garage was flooded. But that's ok......nothing was damaged and we shop vacuumed it right up and have it drying out as we speak. SO all is well that ends well. And if the Lord wants to send more well then we'll just be thankful for the rain and keep vacuuming!!!!lol

This will be a short post as I need to vacuum some more....haha!

Have a blessed day and enjoy the RAIN~!

Kimberly

Do Nothing Day

Yesterday, I took the day off of work......I just wanted to spend some time with my sweetie. I got up early and took the girls to school and then came back home and crawled back into bed and slept until 9:30. I know....I was lazy, but it felt sooooo good to finally get to sleep in just a little.lol

So after I finally got up from my long winters nap......Mike and I headed to Charlotte to just mess around and shop for a little while. But, on our way to Charlotte we stopped in Gastonia and Mike treated me to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants....Olive Garden. He and I shared the lasagna and Parmesan Chicken and of course, had salad and several of their delicious bread sticks. I was so stuffed and certainly had no room for dessert. I enjoyed just sitting and talking with my husband without any interruptions from anyone especially from any of my gloriously wonderful children....not that I don't enjoy being a mom, I just needed some alone time.lol Ya'll know what I mean!!!!

We talked about school and various things that are going on in our children's lives but we also talked about Mike's work and what is going on there right now......he has applied for a new position at Michelin Tire where he currently works. He is applying for a mechanics position. Which could possibly mean he would be on a straight first shift for a while anyway(maybe as much as a year) instead of swinging shifts like he does now. Swinging shifts is so hard on his body....we are praying he will get the new position! Of course it is in the Lord's hands though....whatever is his will is what we want. But I sure hope he get's it!!

After lunch we hit the interstate and raced to Charlotte and just shopped around for a little while. We went by a store on Park Road where I get my water bottles filled up and had all 7 of my bottles filled......I love my water!! Then we went to World Market and got Mike's Vanilla Syrup for his coffee. We got 4 bottles because we don't make trips to that store very often so we wanted to stock up. I love the Bed, Bath & Beyond store and it was right beside of World Market so we walked in there for a little while and looked around. The only thing we bought was a new bath mat for our tub. We checked our watches and it was time to leave and head home to pick Madison up at school. So our time together just the two of us was drawing to a close and we headed back to Blacksburg.

I did throughly enjoy my DAY with my husband.....just hanging out! Thanks honey for spending the day with me!!

Sometimes it nice to just have a "do nothing" day.

Kimberly

Off to School!! /Two Great Church Services Sunday

Well today my girls went back to school......we of course woke up early and sprung to the floor with a bounce in our step!!lol Yah right....we actually did have a wonderful morning though. The girls got up, got ready and got their choirs done and were ready for school by 7:00. We don't have to leave until 7:30....so they were doing good. On the way to school I gave them the usual speech.........Make good choices, be a good friend, guard your testimony, and do the best you can at everything you do today! I know they get tired of hearing this but, I will continue to do it EVERY morning, Lord willing. I just think it is a good reminder for them right before they step out of the car each morning for school. And of course we have prayer also!!

My oldest baby, Taylor, started 9th grade today. She was excited, but also nervous at the same time. She couldn't eat breakfast this morning, so I hope she eats at school. She is enrolled in all Honors courses, except Geometry. She already knows a few of her teachers, so hopefully she will adjust quickly to their teaching techniques.

My youngest baby, Madison, started 5th grade today. She was not nervous because she has gone to the same school for two years. She is now the upperclassmen in the school and she thinks that is soooo cool!

Please pray for both of them, that they will be a good Godly example at their schools and excel!

We had two wonderful services yesterday at Church. Last nights message was from Psalm 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
He preached on the Palm tree. It's stature, It's strength, and it's stamina. It is a very strong tree. It's roots are usually as deep in the ground and the tree is tall. It's rooted and grounded....like we as Christians should be in the word of God. Preacher also told us about the meanings of the Cedar Tree, Willow Tree, and the Palm Tree. But, I need some help....I can't remember what they meant. I think the Willow tree stands for wisdom and of course the Palm Tree stands for strength, but I can't remember what the Cedar Tree stands for. Someone out there who remembers.....please refresh my memory. Thanks!!lol Sorry I will try to take better notes next time.

And, yes I know I still haven't posted my pics from vacation....I will try to one day this week.

Hope you all have a great week!!

Kimberly

Back to Normal....If You Call It That!

Yes, we are back from our vacation!!

Don't you just dread the drive back home returning from vacation? I do.....it seems soooo long and I am thinking ahead to unpacking, laundry, etc....oh dear! lol

We had a wonderful time in Savannah, GA. Of course we ate at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant. We had lunch there on Friday and it was delicious. We had the buffet and were able to choose from Fried Chicken, baked chicken, mac & cheese, yams, BBQ stew, green beans, lima beans, rice & gravy. The yams were my favorite and of course dessert...peach cobbler. I bought her book while I was there and look forward to reading it. It tells the story of her life and how she got started cooking.

We also went to Tybee Island on Saturday and ate breakfast at The World Famous Breakfast Club. I enjoyed that very much, but we did have to wait for about an hour. Then we went to the Lighthouse and were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse....all 178 steps one way. It was a long way up but worth it when you made it to the top. The view was marvelous. We walked on the beach for awhile...it was so beautiful. Then, we went to Fort Pulaski to see a demo of two different cannons being fired. That was really loud, but a neat experience for all.

We did some shopping while we were in Savannah on River Street. Picked up a few souveniers and a few other little things. Taylor discovered that she likes Pralines....they gave out free samples at the River Street Sweets Shop. We visited there several times.lol

It was a gloriously wonderful vacation...but now back to the normal routine. In all seriousness....I thank the Lord for a good safe vacation and it is good to be home. Looking forward to seeing ya'll on Wednesday at Church. We missed all of you peeps! lol

Pictures too follow once I figure out how to do that! lol

Kimberly

Vacation

Ok! Taylor and Cassie set this blog up for me back when the kid's were gone to youth camp and I put off posting on it until I thought I was really ready. So here goes..Hold your breath! They did a wonderful job creating this blog and Taylor came up with the name. Not sure whether I will keep that name, but for now it is fine. I have racked my brain trying to come up with a good name, but have fallen short in that area. So for now Kimberly's place is good!! I am open for any suggestions ya'll may have.

I will try to post as much as possible about my life as a wife and mother of two wonderful girls.
