Rain, Rain, and More Rain....but we need it!!

Thank God for the rain! It is much needed in our area as we are down some 10-15 inches for the year. Last night, sometime after 10:00 it must have really put down some rain cause when I got up this morning our garage was flooded. But that's ok......nothing was damaged and we shop vacuumed it right up and have it drying out as we speak. SO all is well that ends well. And if the Lord wants to send more well then we'll just be thankful for the rain and keep vacuuming!!!!lol

This will be a short post as I need to vacuum some more....haha!

Have a blessed day and enjoy the RAIN~!

Do Nothing Day

Yesterday, I took the day off of work......I just wanted to spend some time with my sweetie. I got up early and took the girls to school and then came back home and crawled back into bed and slept until 9:30. I know....I was lazy, but it felt sooooo good to finally get to sleep in just a little.lol

So after I finally got up from my long winters nap......Mike and I headed to Charlotte to just mess around and shop for a little while. But, on our way to Charlotte we stopped in Gastonia and Mike treated me to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants....Olive Garden. He and I shared the lasagna and Parmesan Chicken and of course, had salad and several of their delicious bread sticks. I was so stuffed and certainly had no room for dessert. I enjoyed just sitting and talking with my husband without any interruptions from anyone especially from any of my gloriously wonderful children....not that I don't enjoy being a mom, I just needed some alone time.lol Ya'll know what I mean!!!!

We talked about school and various things that are going on in our children's lives but we also talked about Mike's work and what is going on there right now......he has applied for a new position at Michelin Tire where he currently works. He is applying for a mechanics position. Which could possibly mean he would be on a straight first shift for a while anyway(maybe as much as a year) instead of swinging shifts like he does now. Swinging shifts is so hard on his body....we are praying he will get the new position! Of course it is in the Lord's hands though....whatever is his will is what we want. But I sure hope he get's it!!

After lunch we hit the interstate and raced to Charlotte and just shopped around for a little while. We went by a store on Park Road where I get my water bottles filled up and had all 7 of my bottles filled......I love my water!! Then we went to World Market and got Mike's Vanilla Syrup for his coffee. We got 4 bottles because we don't make trips to that store very often so we wanted to stock up. I love the Bed, Bath & Beyond store and it was right beside of World Market so we walked in there for a little while and looked around. The only thing we bought was a new bath mat for our tub. We checked our watches and it was time to leave and head home to pick Madison up at school. So our time together just the two of us was drawing to a close and we headed back to Blacksburg.

I did throughly enjoy my DAY with my husband.....just hanging out! Thanks honey for spending the day with me!!

Sometimes it nice to just have a "do nothing" day.

Off to School!! /Two Great Church Services Sunday

Well today my girls went back to school......we of course woke up early and sprung to the floor with a bounce in our step!!lol Yah right....we actually did have a wonderful morning though. The girls got up, got ready and got their choirs done and were ready for school by 7:00. We don't have to leave until 7:30....so they were doing good. On the way to school I gave them the usual speech.........Make good choices, be a good friend, guard your testimony, and do the best you can at everything you do today! I know they get tired of hearing this but, I will continue to do it EVERY morning, Lord willing. I just think it is a good reminder for them right before they step out of the car each morning for school. And of course we have prayer also!!

My oldest baby, Taylor, started 9th grade today. She was excited, but also nervous at the same time. She couldn't eat breakfast this morning, so I hope she eats at school. She is enrolled in all Honors courses, except Geometry. She already knows a few of her teachers, so hopefully she will adjust quickly to their teaching techniques.

My youngest baby, Madison, started 5th grade today. She was not nervous because she has gone to the same school for two years. She is now the upperclassmen in the school and she thinks that is soooo cool!

Please pray for both of them, that they will be a good Godly example at their schools and excel!

We had two wonderful services yesterday at Church. Last nights message was from Psalm 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
He preached on the Palm tree. It's stature, It's strength, and it's stamina. It is a very strong tree. It's roots are usually as deep in the ground and the tree is tall. It's rooted and grounded....like we as Christians should be in the word of God. Preacher also told us about the meanings of the Cedar Tree, Willow Tree, and the Palm Tree. But, I need some help....I can't remember what they meant. I think the Willow tree stands for wisdom and of course the Palm Tree stands for strength, but I can't remember what the Cedar Tree stands for. Someone out there who remembers.....please refresh my memory. Thanks!!lol Sorry I will try to take better notes next time.

And, yes I know I still haven't posted my pics from vacation....I will try to one day this week.

Hope you all have a great week!!

Back to Normal....If You Call It That!

Yes, we are back from our vacation!!

Don't you just dread the drive back home returning from vacation? I do.....it seems soooo long and I am thinking ahead to unpacking, laundry, etc....oh dear! lol

We had a wonderful time in Savannah, GA. Of course we ate at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant. We had lunch there on Friday and it was delicious. We had the buffet and were able to choose from Fried Chicken, baked chicken, mac & cheese, yams, BBQ stew, green beans, lima beans, rice & gravy. The yams were my favorite and of course dessert...peach cobbler. I bought her book while I was there and look forward to reading it. It tells the story of her life and how she got started cooking.

We also went to Tybee Island on Saturday and ate breakfast at The World Famous Breakfast Club. I enjoyed that very much, but we did have to wait for about an hour. Then we went to the Lighthouse and were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse....all 178 steps one way. It was a long way up but worth it when you made it to the top. The view was marvelous. We walked on the beach for awhile...it was so beautiful. Then, we went to Fort Pulaski to see a demo of two different cannons being fired. That was really loud, but a neat experience for all.

We did some shopping while we were in Savannah on River Street. Picked up a few souveniers and a few other little things. Taylor discovered that she likes Pralines....they gave out free samples at the River Street Sweets Shop. We visited there several times.lol

It was a gloriously wonderful vacation...but now back to the normal routine. In all seriousness....I thank the Lord for a good safe vacation and it is good to be home. Looking forward to seeing ya'll on Wednesday at Church. We missed all of you peeps! lol

Pictures too follow once I figure out how to do that! lol

Well I guess I am finally going to do it! Taylor and Cassie set this blog up for me back when the kid's were gone to youth camp and I put off posting on it until I thought I was really ready. So here goes..Hold your breath! They did a wonderful job creating this blog and Taylor came up with the name. Not sure whether I will keep that name, but for now it is fine. I have racked my brain trying to come up with a good name, but have fallen short in that area. So for now Kimberly's place is good!! I am open for any suggestions ya'll may have.

I will try to post as much as possible about my life as a wife and mother of two wonderful girls. As well as about my extended family and friends. Or anything else I think might be of interest to ya'll along life's way.

So this is my First Official post as a NEW blogger!!

God Bless you all and thanks for stopping by,

Kimberly
